Guard the Gospel
‘Guard the Gospel’
Written about AD 66 or 67 from prison in Rome the apostle Paul writes his 2nd letter to Timothy, an elder of the church in Ephesus. Four times Paul uses the words, ‘as for you’, encouraging Timothy to be different. John Stott in his commentary on this letter comments: ‘He is not to yield to the pressures of public opinion or conform to the spirit of his age, but rather to stand firm in the truth and righteousness of God’. In this series we look at themes of boldness, (in the face of opposition and persecution), faithfulness (to all that Christ draws us into), diligence (in the preaching and teaching of truth) and resilience (in our service of Christ).
