Encountering God

Encountering God is a life changing experience. Throughout the Bible there are many examples of individuals who encounter God in various ways and at different stages of life. Whenever an encounter takes place it always has impact. In the Old Testament it was in multiple ways: a burning bush, an audible voice, in worship, in prayer, in rebellion, through being tested. In the New Testament the encounter takes place as people meet Jesus and the ministry of His Holy Spirit. Encounters, of course, are not limited to the pages of the Bible, they happen today for every disciple of Christ as we go about our usual business. Perhaps they are not as dramatic as those in scripture but they are real nonetheless and part of the journey of faith.
